Matt had this guitar part, thought it might be a little too "dramatic," and I proceeded to write really overly dramatic lyrics for it. Sorry man. Dramatic though they may be, they are also probably the most accurate history of Shinobu yet. "All spit and spite and nothing" is borrowed heavily from an Elliott Smith song.
lyrics
we're just dust from the dustbin,
we're just trash from the compactor.
all spit and spite and nothing.
we're just drunks from the drunk tank,
we're just water from the closet,
and we leak out lies.
ignored, and ignored,
and craving nothing more,
spent, and worthless, and burnt out.
but if you told us to live again,
that it'd all be the same,
then amor fati! amor fati!
Stumbled across this great band because of Martha the band and I just love their sometimes melancholy garage-sound.
Also I like the acoustic songs.
I still remember seeing them live in my hometown when they were touring with Erica Freas and asked them for a setlist to have something to remember the great concert.
It´s hanging on my wall since that day :) Ninehundredninetynine
